Fantastico

From Lunarpages Web Hosting Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The cPanel addition, Fantastico, allows you to quickly and easily install a number of scripts onto your web hosting account. This is handy when you need a script setup in a hurry, but you either do not know how to do it by hand, or you do not have the free time to do so. Fantastico comes on both our Basic and Business hosting plans.

Where Can You Find Fantastico?

To access Fantastico, simply login to your cPanel account and scroll down to the bottom of the page. From there you should see a link that reads "Fantastico". Click it, and you are in. When installing a script be sure to pay attention to the on screen instructions and write down any username and password combination you may setup. For many of the scripts, you do this so that you set yourself up an administrator username and password to access the script in question.

Why is (Insert Script Name Here) Not Included?

The number of scripts available for install is judged by two things. One would be what the developers of Fantastico wish to include. The other would include those that are disabled by Lunarpages due to security concerns. In most cases, the version included in Fantastico is not secure.

What are these "Special" Fantastico Links?

Under "Extra" at the bottom left menu, the special links are for Fantastico:

  • Language - Allows you to change the language options.
  • Side menu appearance - Changes the side menu from showing a large long list (the default) or drop down menus for each script option.
  • Email notifications - You may enter an e-mail address to receive notifications for installations/removals or leave empty if you don't wish to receive any. Very handy for keeping up with what is going on, via your hosting account.
  • Installations overview - This will give you an overview of the scripts you have installed.

Here is one last Fanastico tip I would like to share with you all. If you wish to get back to your cPanel default menu at any time, just click on the "Home" link at the top of the Fantastico page.
