How to Install bbPress

bbPress is the forum software script developed by the same team that brought you WordPress. It is a plan, simple and easy to use forum script that has some powerful features and is higly customizable. Here is how you can get it up and running on your own Lunarpages web hosting account.

Step 1: Download bbPress

Download bbPress from bbPress.org. For this example, I am using the .zip version.

Step 2: Uncompress and Upload

Uncompress the .zip file, and then upload the entire bbpress folder to you web hosting account. If you want the forums to be installed under a different name, you can rename the bbpress folder to something else. (for example, "forums")

Step 3: Get Ready to Install

Once the files have been uploaded, visit the intended URL of the bbPress site. Next, you will be greeted by the bbPress installer.

Step 4: Setup Databases and Settings

Follow the on screen instructions. You have to fill in your database configurations first.

You will also be given a chance to integrate bbPress with your installation of WordPress. Even if skipped, you can always integrate WordPress later from within the admin area of bbPress. At the end, you will be given your user name, password and site address. Remember to copy these down somewhere, so you can login to your new bbPress installation.
