Installing yum on VPS

Your VPS machine does not come with Yum installed automatically. You can install it by following these directions.

1. Create a directory to store your rpms, such as /root/setup

2. Download the proper rpm for Yum. It can be found here:

The command would be:

wget http://mirror.centos.org/centos/3.6/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/yum-2.0.8-2.centos3.noarch.rpm

3. Install the rpm using the 'rpm -ivh' command.

rpm -ivh yum-2.0.8-2.centos3.noarch.rpm

4. Yum will be installed. You can type 'man yum' to read the manual page.
