SSL Email Encryption
SSL encryption for your email can be used to securely send and receive emails.
Please note: For SSL encryption to work, you have to use the servername for the incoming and outgoing mailservers.
When setting up your email account and you have CPanel, set the incoming and outgoing mail servers as server.lunarpages.com. This information can be found in your critical account information email.
Email for LPCP accounts are stored on a separate server, so the incoming and outgoing mail servers should look something like lpmail01.lunariffic.com. To determine your mail server, check your MySQL settings in your critical account information email. If your MySQL server is lpsql02.lunariffic.com, then your mail server would be lpmail02.lunariffic.com
When creating your email account, you can select between POP3 and IMAP. POP3 downloads the email and removes them from the server, while IMAP keeps the email on the server. If you are going to be checking your email from multiple locations, or using your smart phone to also check email, we recommend using IMAP.
Your username will be your full email address. You can also enter your password and have your email client remember it. Make sure that the Secure Password Authentication (SAP) is not checked.
Next make sure that the box is checked for your outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, and the option is checked to use the same settings as your incoming mail server.
Finally, in the Advanced section, choose SSL for your encryption type for both your incoming and outgoing mail servers. Next make sure you are using the appropriate ports:
- Incoming server (POP3): 995
- Incoming server (IMAP): 993
- Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
If the outgoing server (SMTP) port is not working you could try either 25 or 587.
